🚀 Launch of the "From Declaration to Action" Series!
The ALBA Declaration is a vital call to action to build a fairer scientific community. But turning principles into practice can be challenging. To help institutions move from commitment to implementation, ALBA, with the support of IBRO, is launching a three-part "From Declaration to Action" online workshop series. Each session will offer practical tools and expert guidance to apply the Declaration’s action points in everyday academic life.
🔵 Online Workshop #1: Recognising and Mitigating Bias in Selection
🗓 15 May 2025 - 09:00-11:00 EDT | 15:00-17:00 CEST | 18:30-20:30 IST

🌍 This year’s UN theme — #ForAllWomenAndGirls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.—reminds us that progress requires action. As we approach the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration, let’s ensure we don’t take steps backward in the fight for fair opportunities for all women in science.

🛑 But the challenge goes beyond reluctance—equity, diversity, and inclusion programs are actively being dismantled. Silencing these issues doesn’t erase them. It’s more important than ever to speak up, highlight the barriers, and push back against disinformation.
💡 A gendered approach to research matters. ALBA’s new guidelines on sex and gender reporting in neuroscience provide essential tools for a more inclusive research culture.

ALBA guidelines for reporting on sex and gender in neuroscience research

New ALBA guidelines encourage neuroscientists to move beyond the binary categorisation of sex in research, in studies both involving humans and animals. Recognising the complexity of sex and gender, these recommendations aim to improve the analysis and reporting of their influence on the brain, moving beyond a simplistic male/female distinction.
