what happens when libre software is neglected in preference of #proprietary alternatives? #jitsi happens. #xmpp happens. #widevine happens.

the very last time i pushed jitsi as a solution, the person said, ''i will go on using #zoom and if zoom fails me i will go use jitsi. jitsi will always be there.'' it was a wednesday.

if you and others do not use it, how will it grow?

people literally host libre software as a second thought. the only proprietary software that i tend to prioritize are video games.

On what version of Cycles is Bricklink Stud.io's Eyesight renderer based?

I’ve been writing a lot of new custom colors for Stud.io. As such, I use the Blender Cycles Manual a lot for reference. However, the online manuals available for Cycles only go back to version 2.79. yes. for almost 2 decades free software development has been lagging in accessibility options. i subconsciously assumed physically challenged people do not use computers, mainly because the majority of options now focus on eye candy or keeping sync with windows application behaviors and looks.

free software braille, screenreader and io preipheral options have to break that mold. will it take the actual challenged to do it?

"Also, with the favicon lib rewrite. Movim is now 100% JS dependency free 😋" #movim #xmpp #metanet #social #p2p #fedi #federation

the difference between free and proprietary software EOL: free software naturally ends when everyone stops using it; proprietary software ends by the hands of its owners, no matter how dependent operators have become.

Remember: you lease proprietary, never own.

Why is Microsoft not plagued by #ransomware like its customers? Because Microsoft does not use Windows for its vital services. Microsoft has used FreeBSD and GNU/Linux for hosting various services through the years. Yet, some ATM use Windows CE. Obviously, Microsoft put itself first, to hell with the rest.
