I'm just a dipshit from Chicago

People who think Mastodon isn't going to undergo enshittification are just ✨️adorable✨️
Capitalism is always the context and the driver of any injustice you witness or experience, and will be until Capitalism is eradicated via revolution. What's most important for this process is that you engage with yourself and excise any internalized Capitalism. Otherwise, no new systems can truly be built and the same story will repeat. It doesn't matter if you don't want to hear about it, discuss it, acknowledge it. This is the way it is. And if you're not doing the work then ....
People who are against fascism and yet are perpetually surprised by the way capitalism functions to serve fascist purposes will never not be funny to me. Sad, dangerous. But also funny.
About the only thing Facebook seems to be good for these days is shitposting - which can be fun, but is like junk food for the brain. Or getting harassed by bigots and fashies - which is the opposite of fun.
I've really been hoping that Mastodon can become a replacement for leftist news for me. I had previously been using Facebook. But as an example of why I no longer see it as viable is ... well. I have seen exactly one leftist page I follow talk about Bushnell's self-immolation protest, and that was to say "he should've set himself on fire inside the embassy." As though he'd've even been able to get inside. What a useless take. And then I have seen exactly zero talk about Nex Benedict.
This isn't the only social media site I'm on. I use other names in other places. But my feed in those places has mostly become an endless stream of bigots who are far too comfortable publicly and proudly displaying their bigotry. I spend more time blocking people than connecting with anyone.

Twitter/X suspended numerous journalists overnight, with no reason given.

*added in edit: looks like at least some of the accounts were reinstated around noon EST.

This is a fantastic story about how the search engine tail wags the online content dog.

It's a form of enshittification, but it's a two-sided one that involves google's algorithmic choices and web designers' responses via Campbell's law (when a metric becomes a target, people do stupid shit)
