I’m a developer for Nocturne, a custom firmware for the (soon to be ewaste) Spotify Car Thing that restores stock functionality.

We’ve fixed a bunch of bugs, added new features, and we’re hard at work to release 3.0.0 beta, the fully standalone version (no Raspberry Pi).

Recently, we added the ability to log in directly with your phone, no VNC needed.

This is the first feature preparing for 3.0.0, which will let you use your hacked Car Thing with just Bluetooth tethering on your phone, resulting in similar functionality to the stock Car Thing.

You may also expect some more features in the future:

- No Pi required
- OTA updates
- Better brightness control
- Select Spotify device
- Account switcher based on connected phone
- Voice controls

*Please note that not all of these may make it in 3.0.0, but are on the roadmap*

@worf @Detour for future reference, if you already use cloudflare and want your domain to have your DDNS record, there are a bunch of docker containers that can update a dns record automatically

They say don’t speak ill of those who’ve passed, but I can’t emphasize enough how there isn’t anything ill anyone could possibly say about @Superbro.

Rest in peace, you’ve improved every life I’ve seen you enter, including mine.

@Detour the Mac is running NixOS too so I think maybe it can be done? Thanks for the suggestion though, will look
@Detour idk how to with nixOS. is it possible to have my MacBook as a build server? It’s Apple silicon so it’s arm64 aswell
@siguza Just yap about some environmentally friendly speed thing and carbon emissions being reduced, would piss even more people off
@siguza would give that car vendor a bad name for awhile, so yes, would be very funny

Thank you for exploring a highly configurable take on what immutable systems can be!
