I break things. Something I fix them too. Occasionally I make them better.

#Neurodivergent basically describes my life, although I'm embracing the #Queer as well.

In better news, my little one has discovered the joys of My Little Pony and I couldn't be happier to watch something with her 😀

Texas attorney general Ken Paxton has reportedly asked for a list of everyone who changed their sex on state documents in the past two years. Why? Paxton's office hasn't said. When asked for docs, they said none exist.

I'm sure it's no big deal. They just want a list of transgender people in Texas so they can send them milk and cookies.

Texas attorney general’s office sought state data on transgender Texans

The effort to obtain data came as Attorney General Ken Paxton, Gov. Greg Abbott and other Republican leaders have marshaled resources against transgender Texans.

Also apparently killing people is "profitable" for rich people. Capitalism is so fucked up. Seriously.
Meanwhile Republicans are refusing to fund US Government programs that try to help people (non-military spending) rather than kill people (military spending) because it's bad to give people money (like they did during the pandemic) because then people will want or expect more and be harder to exploit.
I'm sure it's more nuanced than that, but that was my take away from his talk. 🤷
I know nothing about economics or politics, but if I understood Fed chairperson Powell's press conference today, prices are getting higher because wages are going up and the only way to "save" the US economy (e.g., big businesses) is to stop wages from going up. Apparently unemployment is too low and it costs too much to hire workers and that is what is causing the US economy to be devastated or something. Basically my understanding of his press conference was that Capitalism only works if workers can be exploited, and if they get paid fair wages and benefits its bad for the "economy".

Happy Wednesday Everybody! 💜

(Or at least, those of us who live in areas where it's still Wednesday)

Since I'm in a mood to complain today, people were complaining at a school board meeting this week that our district's LGBTQIA+ policy was "too progressive" and that we should not be allowing or accepting trans children in our schools.

Are we fucking serious? My child (and children like her) are basically trying to survive and get by. They just want to be themselves. They already have to live in fear and horror of being outed, not 'passing' well enough, being bullied - now you want to make their lives even more of a hell?

I am grateful that I live in a more "progressive" city in my state that even has a LGBTQIA+ acceptance policy. Fuck all the parents who don't accept it and want to move us backwards. I just want my child to be able to attend school safely as their true gender and not have to be subject to your fucking bigotry.

Well that's some bullshit

In a similar "Fuck the Rich" sentiment, I saw a headline today about how "unfair" taxes are to rich people. For fuck sake. I see the same thing every fucking week.

First of all, the US tax rate is pathetic. Millionaires and billionaires in the US pay almost nothing in taxes. Secondly, you play stupid "tax" games to have effective tax rates lower than most Americans because of exemptions and deductions and stupid regressive tax rules.

To all the millionaires and billionaires out there - how do you think you got rich? The "self-made billionaire" bullshit is a fucking myth. Your wealth exists from you (or your ancestors) exploiting workers and labor. Who has to pick up the tab when you don't provide sufficient support for your workers throughout their lifespan? The Government.

Do you sell goods or services? Who protects your right to sell goods and services? Who controls the economy so that it is "fair" (or rather, favors the rich)? The Government. Who pays for and "maintains" (or doesn't) the infrastructure necessary to move your goods and services? The Government. Who protects your wealth and bails your out if you need it? The Government.

Y'all fucking whine about a 15% effective tax rate. That's fucking nothing when you consider that the entire US government essentially exists to protect you and your wealth. From it's founding, the purpose of the US Government (as well as the Police and other public services) has been to protect land, property, and wealth. The government doesn't exist to benefit those of us who rent, or live paycheck to paycheck, it exists to protect the rich. We are a fucking afterthought.

You are complaining about 10%, 15%, even 20% effective tax rates (which most of your wealth isn't even subjected to) when the US Government struggles with debt to pay the basic needs for people. The US Government has programs to keep us alive so that businesses can underpay us, deny us benefits, cut us off, and increase their profits at the expense of the Government.

Everybody deserves the right to life. Who fucking buys your goods and services? Who "makes" the US economy? It is consumers, whether they are able to work or not. The US supports consumers, including lower income and disabled people (although arguably not nearly enough) so that we can survive by buying things. The end result is that we get by (mostly) and you get richer off the Government's money.

It pisses me off to see people complain about how unfair taxes are. Taxes exist to benefit rich people. Taxes exist to keep us alive so that you can keep getting richer. Fuck you. Pay your goddamn taxes and stop complaining, and maybe campaign for common sense reforms (like closing tax loopholes or a more progressive taxation system) and sacrifice a little bit of your wealth and profit for the sake of a functional society so that we can have basic human rights and security.

Fuck rich people.

TLDR: Fuck rich people
