To be honest I've engaged with Mastodon more than I ever did with Twitter.
It's actually really nice to interact and view a timeline from my local community (aus.social) and see local updates versus worldwide craziness. Saying that...
I quit social media a few years ago due to Covid, #BLM (or the atrocities that led to it) and some #Twitch #MeToo drama that was going on. I deleted my reddit, twitch and instagram to avoid all the negatives in the world.
I don't know how long I'll last here actually posting, because the ding of a notification gives me an unhealthy amount of dopamine that I don't want to become reliant on.
Just a warning to others, just because Mastodon isn't Twitter, doesn't mean it avoids ALL the negatives of Twitter or other social media. Be careful of addiction, be careful about caring too much about people who aren't actually in your life.

I love how fast #mastodon is to load on Desktop, compared to Twitter it's lightning fast.
Thanks to the aus.social admins for putting resources into the instance to make it an enjoyable experience.
And thanks to the Mastodon developers for making such a solid platform.
Also to appease my guilt https://www.adoptapet.com.au and https://sippycreek.com.au. Obviously adoption is a better choice than buying from a breeder, no matter how ethical they are.
