I should probably clarify that cutie.space was launched somewhat prematurely without a proper moderation policy. I also don't know how long the site will be maintained for.
Both of these are my fault, and I'm not really happy about that.

@delores and as for “controversial speech”, I'm not entirely sure where to draw the line. I don't intend this to be a site with absolute freedom of speech. I'm certainly not allowing anything which appears to be hate speech. And beyond that, I have no interest in creating a space where people can argue me or my friends are invalid or do not deserve rights.
The fediverse has plenty of other places people can go.
@delores good question. this site is for the most part just used by me for now, and it was launched prematurely. I don't know how long it will stay up; it's a bit too resource-intensive on the server and labour-intensive to update.
that said:
- NSFW content is not something I want to have to moderate and is a minefield
- Within that, “lolicon” and “gore” could probably get me arrested

Eugen RochkoSoooooo, a #Mastodon update. Toots can now be private, which means, visible only to your followers. In tandem with that, you can now "lock" your account, which means you'll be able to approve or reject followers, and the privacy setting would default to "private".
You can still toot publicly as a locked account if you wish. To strangers, locked accounts display only public/unlisted toots. Federation is wonky though
