I don't like Meta or the fact that they want a foothold in the fediverse, but I'll try to focus on the good points. If you choose de-federation, either now or later, I probably won't miss them.
No reason to threaten anyone... We are not on the burning bird platform, we should know better.

I really hate that these things happen. It's like these stories of vets that have e.g. dogs that lose a leg and their owner like say that the dog should be put down because it's not this prestine status symbol anymore. Even though the dog could live healthy and happy even without that leg.
Most vets will not put those dogs down but they or their staff adopt them into their house hold or try finding a new home for them in another family.

I voted for yes because I was primarily thinking about the benefits to share information and contacts with *users* not yet in the fediverse.
Reading that summation of Meta's history, nothing really new to me, reminded me why I never had a FB/Insta/WhatsApp account. And the thought that this would be the way how Meta finally got at more specific data about me or others is why I want to change my vote. Thx for sharing.
