Jesus never asked the State for help. He rejected it.

Random thought: saw the mention of Isso, for a commenting system that can be used on static websites. Had the idea of something similar with ActivityPub instead, but then thought further of something where you could have something essentially proxy and transform content from a static website (given some URL pattern of which pages should be included/exempt, and where to extract content from).

Ergo, you could have some blog or other personal website, that could even be static, while having some secondary service that can transform it to ActivityPub, Nostr, or other representations, and serve an embedded (and moderated) comments section, without needing the content to originally be inside of some natively ActivityPub-based (or extended) platform.

Hell, even stepping even further: maybe could do it for an art gallery system too, that could do automatic cross-posting.

Ukranian interceptor-drones are likely to put Iranian suicide drones out of business, unless they are able to put guns on the suicide drones and start shooting down the interceptors.

Alternatively if they can fly them to their destination while staying high, and then dive at the end, they remain out of interceptor range until they're already over a target - so knocking them out is not useful because they're still going to land a hit. This only works if they can protect their payload from unintentional detonation, which is hard if it's a bomb, but if it's something like thermite then it may be fairly easy.

Triggering a thermite payload to start burning a few seconds before it lands on its target does not change its effectiveness.

However, as long as Iran has long range missiles, they can turn Hormuz into a toll road simply by declaring that any tanker who does not pay the toll has a chance of being hit. Tanker companies will simply pay to stay on their good side.

There's a world in which this war basically winds down in a stalemate, with Iran simply extracting $20 per barrel as a protection racket for the foreseeable future. America can seize their islands if they want to, but that really doesn't affect their ability to hit tankers with missiles - and all they need is a credible threat to extract payment.

Word on the street is they're currently charging $1 per barrel. IMO they can raise this a lot, and oil companies will pay.

#WordWeavers Mar 19 - Share something that makes your SC different from your MC.

Just finished writing a fun MG fantasy story - with Macaroni penguins as the MC/SC. The MC's are a couple - they mate for life - who have human emotions but penguin physicality. The SC is wise-cracking/funny but has mad skills that come to the rescue in unexpected ways.

#WritersCoffeeClub Mar 19 - Do you need to finish a work before starting another?

No, not really! I recently had 3 manuscripts going, but of course, I write Kidlit so they are short. I just did a longer MG fantasy story that will be out shortly - lots of Macaroni penguins! And I'm about to tackle a YA fantasy that's been simmering for a while now.
