@marcelsalathe Thanks for sharing. I was recently checking out the CS50 courses by HarvardX to understand if they are a good starting point for people with a non-CS STEM-degree, who would like to get into software development: https://cs50.harvard.edu/x/2023/
They are entertaining and contain good exercises. So if one would like to make fast progress and is willing to dedicate a couple of weeks (full-time!) on the CS50 series courses, I can recommend those as well.

Harvard University's introduction to the intellectual enterprises of computer science and the art of programming.

A Ukrainian soldier puts it more starkly. “Starlink is our oxygen,” he says. Were it to disappear “Our army would collapse into chaos.”

Quite worrying that such critical infrastructure is in the hands of one person. Especially that person.

@marcelsalathe This might become a bad thing for office workers in high-income countries. Employers will sooner or later start asking themselves why they are paying high salaries if their workers aren't in the same location anyways.
@suhail Wow... that was quick. Maybe it's a good thing. This way at least a large audience gets to see how absurd this new policy is.
Formatting: There's no text formatting in toots. At least I haven't found anything. However, given the nature of #mastodon, I guess there might be clients that support markdown formatting by interpreting **bold** and *italic* and displaying it appropriately. Is anyone aware of a client that does this?

Clients: There are several options of clients you can use for #mastodon. I'm currently using #tusky. I like the optics and the fact that it's open source software.

@rrhett Thanks for the quick response. Just found this article as well that provides some additional info on #mastodon with regards to privacy and security: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2022/11/mastodon-private-and-secure-lets-take-look

Are private messages on #mastodon actually end-to-end encrypted? That is: Are there any guarantees that only the sender and receiver of the message can read its content?
