@gruber re: “hardware keeps a company honest”, this might be the one downside to the internet distribution era of software. Those Leopard, Keynote, or GarageBand bits did have to get to a stage good enough to ship on a disc.

@gruber re iTools - I know they recovered afterwards, but that whole keynote until the Aqua demo is a collection of things which didn’t work out. 2000 was a bizarre year for Apple, a weird dip in the otherwise exponential graph
