Was mad as hell, just not going to take it any more.
Then a menagerie of whackos took control.
Now playing Fallout to prep for what's coming.

Albo seems to lack foresight.

His political penchant for caution, timidity even, doesn't seem to extend to imagining the likely fallout of acquiescing to contentious lobbyist demands.

Bridget Archer asserts:

"Antibiotics, whether they are in veterinary use or in industry use in the salmon industry, are heavily regulated.

And they are regulated with regard to their public health use as well."

Quite evidently that is not the case when a commercial salmon hatchery could dump oxytetracycline into the River Derwent just upstream from the water intake of New Norfolk's town population.

Salmon giant confirms antibiotic use in hatchery on River Derwent

There are calls for the public to be made aware of antibiotic use in Tasmania's freshwater hatcheries after Huon Aquaculture recently used oxytetracycline to treat diseased salmon without informing downstream users.

@PaulWay

This isn't an 'industry'. This is simply reckless vandalism born of a contempt for nature and for fellow citizens.

@Garyb_spectabilis

Stop burning coal, Qld.

You're making things worse for everyone just to make it better for a few already wealthy individuals.

Why? To placate some internal faction in order to maintain his personal power base, no doubt.
I've long given up believing Albanese is guided by some shining star of conviction, or social idealism, or vision for the future of millions of Australia's youth with their aspirations and fears.

Patricia Karvelas this morning:

" Ley's capitulation on net zero is the latest time she has shelved her personal views ...

Authenticity is a leader's greatest political asset, and Ley's moves to please the conservatives in her party are likely to do massive brand damage to her individually.

She's risking the one advantage she has — her reputation as a moderate woman who is in touch with "modern" Australia."

With net zero capitulation, Sussan Ley puts her one advantage at risk, scrabbling to keep her leadership

It was only a week ago that the moderates in the Liberal Party were flexing their muscle privately (and some publicly), threatening a divorce with the Nationals and to walk the plank if net zero was dumped. Neither threat ever materialised.

ABC News

Alan Kohler this morning:

Senator Matt Canavan, the man now running Coalition policy, puts it like this: "The only way the government can meet net zero is by telling you what car to drive, how fast you can drive it, what food you can eat …"

Real men eat meat and drive noisy cars, quickly, and as Donald Trump urges, they also "drill baby drill".

The strange macho appeal of fossil fuels in a world struggling to reach net zero

The strange macho appeal of fossilised vegetation means that 30 years of annual United Nations meetings to stop the planet heating any more have been a bust.

Fixing the headline:

'Barramundi suffer mass deaths in Tassal's fish pens.'

Because I expect the fish did a lot more suffering than Tassal executives.

John Williamson has shared a statement on social media after his classic song, True Blue, was reportedly played during a March for Australia anti-immigration protest on Sunday (19 October).

“‘True Blue’ is a song for all Australians and should not be hijacked by any group that seeks to use the song to sow division,” Williamson wrote on Facebook today (21 October). He added, “I believe in a multicultural society - one where all Australians come together in unity to celebrate our unique multicultural nature and freedoms.” #copyright #music #moralrights #auslaw #auspol
