@hypomodern @csalzman we got home from a week up north yesterday, are trying to turn to get the kids to YMCA camp tomorrow. After YMCA camp (two weeks for my daughter) we're all home for 3.5 days, then we go to Montana. Get home from Montana the day before school starts (we had more time planned but the school calendar changed?)
This is a stupid schedule.

@samfirke I really appreciated that my new (er 2 years ago) hiking pack included its own rain tarp and a secret pocket to zip it into. Didn't even realize it had that feature until after buying it and noticing that part of the wall was extra thick and found the tarp inside it.

@typingmonkey oooo, this is very relevant to my screen-saving, cat-thwarting interests!
@hypomodern @csalzman @george I had solid success with Google's voice assistant for driving directions, timers, alarms, starting phone calls, texts....until they turned on Gemini Your AI Assistant and now it is completely useless.
@samfirke @hypomodern that's similar to my explanation of what llms are good for in non-coding scenarios: treat it as a really fast and enthusiastic intern who doesn't have any real subject matter expertise. Great for fast drafts but don't use anything it brings you without bringing in that actual knowledge.
