The BOM data services do definitely need am overhaul, but I hear that this money is coming from the pot which would have paid researchers' salaries. Not much point having a data service if theres no one collecting the data for it... also a massive WTF at getting Accenture to do it again after the last time.

I learned recently that while a lot of BOM staff are in ongoing roles (yay!) this is not true of the researchers, who are largely on fixed contracts (boooo!). Just thinking about how many staff could be funded with $16 mill...

Company that built botched new BOM website wins $16m contract for new site

The company responsible for the highly criticised BOM website wins a $16 million tender to build a new climate data website for the government.

Solidarity with the Victorian state school teachers on strike today ✊ Teachers deserve fair wages and a reasonable workload. Our state and federal governments are funding a classist education system, where public schools are criminally underfunded at the expense of exclusive private schools.

5 sleeps till opening night! After months of rehearsals we're about to perform for the opening of the Glasshouse Theatre at QPAC. The ballet dancers are incredible ☺️
@simon Yeah, it's unfortunately pretty pricey. But it is made up of hundreds of performers, 1.5hrs of ballet, choir and orchestra. The choir has 33 rehearsals!

Despite what the Premier said today - the Glasshouse theatre at QPAC isn't being opened by Sting.

It's actually being opened by a production of Queensland performers - Queensland Ballet, QSO and Brisbane Chorale/Canticum Chamber Choir. We're performing Verdi's Requiem, it's going to be amazing ☺️

@david I am down south - it certainly wasn't 44.8 degrees at 9am (and didn't feel like 59). Apple weather app said it was 23.
