On our way to the NY Climate March: End Fossil Fuels

To my friends in NY who think #democracy is just being eroded in “red” states. Here in Yonkers, the state’s third largest city, just north of NYC, the mayor and his allies are on the verge of giving themselves an extension on term limits to an unprecedented 4 terms, without putting it to a popular vote. At the sole public hearing tonite, the room is packed w Teamsters and city workers dependent on the mayor for jobs. Other community ppl are here too but the odds aren’t in their favor.

RIP Bernard Sifry, aka Dad (1933-2022). I may write more about him at some point, but what I’m remembering now is that he was a devoted father, uncle and grandfather; hardworking and beloved public school math teacher, union man, proud secular Jew, dog lover, punster, and in his own way, made good trouble.
