@independentpen but basically I really feel the world needs to adapt, not our children. I have no problem going to the staff to complain if I need to, and I scheduled 3 IEP meetings this year alone to make sure my son felt supported. We're very lucky the school is very anti bullying and won't hesitate to suspend a student if they're being unkind.
@independentpen What I'm going to say is very privileged, but I basically centered my life around sending my son to a school that would value neurodiversity, intelligence, and kindness. Things aren't easy and my now 9th grader wants to take the GED next year because of the one class out of four that he doesn't like (English, while he has an A+ and loves every other class). It's a lot of work and driving for this single mom... But my son feels loved at school, which means so much to me.
