I have moved to boring old https://mastodon.social/@mrshll in preparation for potential long-term downtime of my home server, zombiebox.
Latest thing was using raw flight data (airspeed, position, altitude, etc) as input to a weather model.
Of course, this has already been done. I had no idea the extent of it though!'
There's still a lot of room to innovate and utilize the whole dataset.
This website (showcased on three.js) is the first time in a while I've been wowed by a dynamic webpage (is that the right term?)
It has a number of issues, but pretty colors oo ahh

Good lord every single annoying company out there took it to 11 with the AI hype. Intolerable
Imagining "real" data, interesting visual outputs, meaningful filters and transforms.
My guess is this kind of reactivity with large datasets will be too tough on the client but ima keep playin :)
not sure if this is going to end up being expressive enough for "processing lots of environmental data" but it's been fun to sketch out!
