@Deglassco I truly appreciate your posts. I pass them on to my fam. Thank you for this one especially. What's particularly jarring is "The Real McCoys" was a '50s television comedy starring rabid White Supremacist Walter Brennan, arguably "one of the most evil men to find success in Hollywood." (My he slowly roast in Hades.) Whitey appropriates everything.

Sgt. William Harvey Carney of the 54th Massachusetts was the first African-American to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for courage and heroism in the face of unrelenting onslaught of enemy fire during the Civil War Battle of Fort Wagner. But it would take 37 years before he would receive his due recognition for his heroic actions that day.
