Sure, I've made mistakes, but I've never demonized an already marginalized population just to win an election.
I found a more accessible article on the Pre-Columbian relationship between #Indigenous Americans and #Polynesians.

The research was published at the beginning of the pandemic, which I am sure explains why it didn't get the attention it deserved.

In college, I took a class called The Letters of Paul. I took it for two very good reasons:

1. I was (and am) named Paul.
2. The prof, Cal Roetzel, was (and is) cool.

I didn’t figure it was an especially practical course. It was for fun, for the challenge, for the cultural knowledge, for the pleasure of doing it.

2 emails today from local political candidates telling me about their problems—as if it's my job to solve them!

I don't care if you're fund-raising is behind some arbitrary target; I want to know how you're going to address our community's problems.

In contrast, a candidate recently reached out to say they've already got enough funds to run a solid campaign but wanted to share something valuable they could do with additional donations. That's the candidate I happily gave more money to.
