(He/Him) Teacher, husband, knitter, high-rise office building, somewhat rotatable antenna system, geological period, American television sitcom, endangered species of frog in the family Strabomantidae ...

Profile pic is me, aged 4. A blond boy with a bowl haircut and bored/jaded expression in a dark blue shirt with orange sweater vest and orange tie (it was the 70s).

Header pic is a closeup of a sign saying "sorry," taken by me in Provincetown, MA.

Playing Tears of the Kingdom, and so far my experience can be summed up as "You don't need any more melee weapons. You have melee weapons at home."
American healthcare is the best in the world!
1) it's tied to your job
2) how much you pay depends on each employer
3) it costs anywhere from $0 to $25,000 annually to insure your family
4) you get TONS of mail after each and every visit and you learn how to ignore the first three "bills" that arrive until the "real" bill shows up of what you actually pay
5) yes you pay for things beyond the money you pay for healthcare in general
6) keeping your prescriptions current is now your half-time job
Consumer capitalism and planned obsolescence were mistakes.
First they came for the journalists, who were very surprised to find themselves in a giant warehouse filled with minorities, immigrants, disabled, trans, and gay people.
The first episode of season two was so bad I'm struggling to remember why I liked season one.

This helps to make America and the entire globe safer.

In the last 6 years, the US has gone from producing 0% of the world's rare earths to nearly 15% thanks to a single mine in California. Now the company behind it is taking the next steps toward an entirely US-based rare earth supply chain:

A once-shuttered California mine is trying to transform the rare earth industry

A U.S.-based rare earth supply chain could boost clean energy and electric vehicles — and military weapons.

Grist
Breaking.
SCOTUS rules the Earth is round and goes around the sun. Court splits 7-2, Thomas and Alito dissenting.

Welp. $2400 to replace the catalytic converter on a 12 year old car with 93,000 miles and several other (minor) issues.

Add to this the fact that I just started a year-long sabbatical and don't need to commute to work for the next 15 months.

So instead I'm googling "How to donate junk car to trans rights charity."

Went to move my car for street sweeping, and it sounds like someone stole my catalytic converter. Great start to the summer.
