@Damekraft it definitely seems the only way to cool down interaction at scale is for the bubble to burst, because sure there will always be people who choose either paradigm (high "value" vs cyber meatspace) but ultimately infrastructure being profitable is what created the high "value" paradigm to begin with, and as facebook etc continue to crash all I can hope is that is loss of capitalist interest in the high "value" paradigm, and that its reflective of a move towards communal infrastructure

@Damekraft well we were the future product once they found a way to monetize us because investors dont actually care that a product exists. so yeah I guess from one perspective we were bees in a jar but like I think for rich people we were just another investment
@moofsoup totallllleeeeee yeah. I’ve worked at large platform/marketplace companies and have had a Birds Eye view on “the algorithm” for about 10 years now at various global scale companies and it’s horrific. I’ve been vocal about ethics and review boards and did manage to make some headway but really the whole enterprise and concept is egomania driven by power, wealth and control. We need to get to a post algorithm world however we can.
real. but like ultimately open source/ community maintained infrastructure is how the internet will stabilize after this latest ad revenue bubble
