Not sure. There have been several scares in the recent past: ebola, SARS, MERS, Mad Cow, Bird Flu. Soon enough we have gone back to our old reckless days.

Not many pandemics have caused dramatic and lasting changes. Its like damped oscillations for us - big changes in the beginning and then we stabilize to almost where we were before...
