#DailyRetroGame 123: Turbo Outrun (1989)
I never did click with this sequel to the seminal OutRun. In removing the original’s forked roads and lobbing in a turbo boost, sporadic cops and a sort-of opponent, the game lost its soul. Still, for fans of the genre, it remained a speedy blast through plenty of pixel art stages. To my mind, though, the real sequel was the suitably named OutRun 2, in 2003. THAT was a superb game.
