Long-time online & print publisher of punk zines. I've reviewed a few thousand hardcore punk records @ diyconspiracy.net

@automattack I planned to come to more shows, but eventually only came to the one in Budapest.
@automattack Also, I may seem overly enthusiastic, hyped and positive when I write nice things about hundreds of bands on DIY Conspiracy, but the truth is I no longer go to every local show, and rarely book gigs now. Except for bands decolonizing punk, like the "Antipode" bands, who I find the most interesting and worth supporting.

@automattack Catharsis has always been an important band to me, even though I rarely listen to metallic hardcore anymore. It was great seeing you in 2025. Too bad the new shows got canceled,.

I've been to a few shows in Germany and Austria the past couple of years, and I've seen bands that support Palestine, but when they play in those countries, they don't say a single word about it. Kind of weak.

@stooge I hate that some of my favorite live music videos on YouTube were deleted earlier this year. It was Yaphet Kotto playing some tiny space in the '90s. Absolutely intense and amazing. I wish I had downloaded them.
@punkterrorist I was expecting more international bands besides Amargi. We discussed how most of the bands were from Quebec/Canada. Next time, we should promote Demo Fest more in Europe!

@shotgunseamstress Absolutely one of the best bands! Whenever they release a new record, it goes straight to my end-of-year list.

If you're new to Japanese hardcore punk, this is one of the sickest records from the late '80s. The 7-inch goes for about $500 on Discogs, though.

@luisxgregorio It's funny, I'm big on Japanese hardcore, but never paid attention to that band. Probably because of being straight edge, and their weed theme and artwork.

Kiwi friend Craig H. has returned from a long writing hiatus and a mental health break last year, and is currently working on a new article for DIY Conspiracy. In the meantime, he’s also posted a new volume of the ICWT column, which is great, as usual. One of my favorite current DIY punk reviewers and a constant inspiration!

“The [d-]beat is not a neutral entity. It is a pulse, a weapon, a sanctuary, a demand. There is no opting out. To listen is to take a side. To [mosh] dance is to vote for the world you want to inhabit.” Ivan March – The Sonic Insurrection pt. 1 Kia ora, crüe. Welcome to ...
