i have two cats and i'm attending grad school in the midwest (history program). they/them pronouns. you can call me jamie or james ⚲ ✡️ Ⓥ 🦌
I was able to cry at things after I went on testosterone back in 2008 but after I stopped a few years ago I've turned into a giant crybaby who tears up at the very idea of something like an abandoned kitten being nursed back to health. I'd like to go back please this is embarrassing
@miscellanium this is one of the sentences I was thinking of: "for the transitivity and transversality of blackness and transness exist prior to their articulation, which is to say that the connections within these concepts occur in the formal anterior to their various calcifications of meaning or territorializations or permutative nominalizations." I mean come on, this can't be the best way to do our work #queertheory #academia

Goodnight friends! The snow has mostly retreated, clinging on at the margins of things, like the edges of grass verges & kerbsides, outlining domains in dirty soot speckled grey-white. There was a hesitant tapping of rain, a surly, uninspiring mottled grey sky quashing any spring-like feeling.

Gradually getting sleep back again–an impatient itch to make stuff is growing & I want to put myself into a space of routine that makes it easier to find time & energy.

May we encourage each other today!

I've been reading C. Riley Snorton's book #BlackOnBothSides and holy shit some of the sentences are jargon-laden doozies. I understand wanting to use very specific language for a specific concept, but the overuse of that seems particularly endemic to contemporary works of #queertheory and it's a real shame. imo there's a difference between thumbing your nose at academia and just straight up being inaccessible

i rarely ever finish comics & it's something i should work on, but the sketches are just too damn funny sometimes.

like this comic(?) that's just 4 blank squares and the words "look how far you've come!"

vaguely interested in watching #startrek discovery but it's an online original and I don't trust online originals thanks to the bullshit loophole in the ADA where online originals don't have to caption their content
belated pic of hamantaschen I made for yesterday https://a.weirder.earth/media/Yof-lohmwzn8XAuy6mA
I’m not sure why the cat loves flowers this much but sure. https://a.weirder.earth/media/Wq4vEMzOzCdPJ8w7X38

Anti-Fascist Practice and Impossible Non-Violence, a great article by Natasha Lennard about the centrist allergy to self-defence in the face of injustice & terrorism, & the seductiveness of the fascist impulse.

"Antifa do not bring violence; the violence was there in the DNA of fascism and our world through which it permeates. [...] The question then is not one of necessary violence, but impossible non-violence."
