The most brilliant move in corporate history?

In a bold departure from its Big Tech peers, Apple sidestepped the $650 billion AI infrastructure spending frenzy, a move likened to opting out of purchasing the US Navy annually. While Amazon, Goo…

@kottke Ironically indeed! An app that helps you avoid American products in your everyday life … that runs on an American phone with American software.

Great discussion on the use of agentic AI on the last episode. One thing that I didn’t think you got to address (unless I daydreamed over it) is this issue of programming “cognitive debt”. Wondering what your thoughts are on it. It’s easy foretell that such debt can also lead to other debts earlier in the process, such as “spec development” debt, or even earlier, as in “problem definition” debt. And there’s the big danger of, as with most debts ignored to grow uncontrollably, complete cognitive bankruptcy. A valid concern?

@KingShawn Same! I’ve been looking forward to the new season since the last episode of season 1!

LOTR: moral authority precedes power.
GOT: power precedes moral authority.

While Martin’s worldview prevails for most of human history, I believe Tolkien’s hope disrupts this cycle every once in a while so we survive in the end.
