AI utopianism, not in the sense that "AI will bring about a utopia", but that people's advice on safe use of AI goes against known facts about humans
"Make sure you check its work" my brother in Christ have you ever met a person with a deadline
I disapprove of the discourse around a thing, so heads up idiots, here are my ideas
[I grab my cheek and wiggle it to make that faint yet horrible noise for a solid two minutes while maintaining eye contact]
1) Most of us aren't working for startups and we need to stop taking advice from the people who are. This goes for more than AI-assisted coding
2) People who say "I don't like the discourse" and then post a rant are bad for you
It always impresses me that tech people (ok tech dudes) are so steadfastly committed to conflating one very narrow form of intellectual strength with virtue, when in no other field (with the possible exception of academia) is it more clear that one person can be really smart and a fucking fool at the same time
And this isn't even a shitpost or a Chestertonian paradox. It's like being both strong and clumsy, or (conversely) thinking that because you're tall you'll never fall over
