I write about Agile Leadership for Great Results | Iโ€™ve learned from the agile trenches 20+ years. | Founder of Agile Experts Academy

@Thomaslissajoux Thomas, thanks for asking. Let me give you a biased view as ORSC coach and educator ;)

A first good read: https://www.amazon.de/Systems-Inspired-Leadership-Collective-Collaboration/dp/B09QXQRGHD

Parallel to that: the ORSC education courses

That said, the future of an organization,
its culture, its innovation capability,
get's determined by its leadership.

There is not method,
no way of working, that can ignore this.

It all starts with leadership.
And leadership starts with
Awareness & Intent of leaders!

Organizational Change (whatever method) is limited by the willingness of executives / senior managers.

An invisible, but nearly ceiling.

If this support is not guaranteed at all,
better save your money and social capital.

W/o backing of formal power, change won't happen.

A pity, but since #ios16 #GoogleMaps does not work anymore via #Apple #Carplay in most #VW cars

I stopped using the term "Agile Coach" for me.
Every year it became less useful.

Even the ACI definition became less helpful.
Because a professional coach can't be good at everything.

If you're a great coach, you might not be good at facilitation or training.
๐Ÿงต๐Ÿ‘‡

Today, I'm an agile consultant (yes, I give advise)
and a professional coach.

Coach with emphasize on: Business, Leadership, Systems.

That's not only more impactful,
but also more clear.

Still, I mentor other agile coaches on their journeys.
And that's very fulfilling.

Commercial reasons: I did not want to be part of these agile coach cohorts, trying again to "transform" a corporate over 6-18 months.

"Agile death marches" as I call it today

I figured out, what organizational systems needs instead.

Marshall Goldsmith, one of the best executive coaches in the world, highlights it:
๐Ÿ‘‰ As a coach be clear about your strengths and also weaknesses
๐Ÿ‘‰ Refer to others, where you won't shine

Why I moved away from "Agile Coach"?
- for professional reasons
- and for commercial ones

The idea of limiting WIP (work in process) is obviously a key in knowledge work.

But the actual game changer is ๐Ÿ‘‰ FOCUS!

Because you can limit everything down to one item,
and still not work on it,
still not collaborate,
still not get it done!

Focus is the game changer!

You can NOT control Outcome at all!

At best you influence it indirectly .

The only thing you really control ๐Ÿ‘‰ YOUR PROCESS.

Without good process, no results.
Not enjoying it, same thing.

Therefore: Focus on Your Process! Understand direction. But get relaxed on Outcome!
