For #SlimeMoldSunday, (I just made that up) here is an excellent example of Dog Vomit Slime Mold.

Very small crab spider on a wood trellis post in the garden protecting its egg sac. Screw head for scale.

(I was very careful retwining the trellis. All good!)

I think I just hit peak irony.

Video of a small bird (Northern parula) that wants to hang out at our French door window.

(It brought larvae in its beak later that afternoon. I gave it the thumbs up of appreciation of its hunting prowess.)

Our neighborhood is getting some new culverts, so of course I had to pose...

"That's all, folks!"

From my analysis of Lake Manly in Badwater Basin, Death Valley, here is a graphic that shows areas the changes between strong winds on March 3 and on March 8.

On March 3rd strong winds pushed the lake waters north and flooded northern areas and dried southern araes. On March 8, the strong winds abated and the lake waters sloshed back to the south - drying areas in yellow and re-flooding areas in purple.

Asshole.

As a side-quest, I'm working on calculating the volume of Lake Manly when it appeared in Badwater Basin, Death Valley in March 2024.

On March 3rd, strong winds pushed the shallow lake downwind, to the North and West.

Here is a very strange thing. Death Valley basins are very flat. But Lake Manly surface water level was pushed about a half meter higher to the western shore.

So for this lake, the top surface of the lake had more slope than the lake bottom.
That is messing with my brain.
