It feels like AANHPI Month arrives this year under a shadow. My family was incarcerated during World War II — not because we had done anything wrong, but because of who we were. Fear was weaponized against us.

Today, I watch families torn apart by ICE. I watch immigrants, many of them AANHPI, living in terror, not knowing if they'll see their families when they come home. The cruelty is familiar. But so is the resilience.

AANHPI communities have always built this country while fighting for their place in it. For every family waiting. For every dreamer. For every person who came to make a life here and deserves to live it without fear. Let’s celebrate each other and remind them we are not going anywhere.
