there's no magic. every function you call, every tool you use, was designed and created by humans like you; you can learn how each piece of it works, it is masterable.

got that? cool. now use this overwrought IDE that will offer to support 20 ways to deploy code, the service we actually use to deploy code, three build tools, this library that re-writes all of our code before it runs, and the 8 different mini-programming languages and 17 context-specific config files you need to program *those*

Not to mention solving the huge issue of information and opinion bubbles that centralized communication has become synonymous with. Once a platform knows enough about you, the only way for it to make money off of you is to make sure you feel comfortable using it. No one feels comfortable when confronted with new unsettling information or ideas. Also no one grows and learns when only being exposed to the same ideological setting over and over.
@KinotomiKaru @sir That looks useful.
@sir Thanks!
@sir I've used Anki for school. I was hoping there would be some sort of online kanji-learning-site. I really just want to be able to read it.
I should learn japanese...
@pinfort That's not good. Hope they get it fixed.
@Gargron Do you know if anyone is working on translation?
#Mastodon v1.1.2 should come pretty soon. This instance is on latest master right now, which means upgrade to Ruby 2.4.1 (perf improvements), a better styled emoji dialog, boost confirmation dialogs, and proper scrolling for filtered notifications.
