Is "thinking along" proper English idiom or a Dutchism?

In Dutch, "meedenken" ("thinking along") means discussing someone's plans/ideas and providing feedback on them, without getting too actively involved - as in, "I don't have time to actually collaborate with you on this, but I'd be happy to think along" or "this is outside the scope of my organization/team's responsibilities, but I'd be happy to think along".

Is there a more 'natural' alternative? Perhaps "help think" or "provide input"?

@GrahamDowns In my country, the term is still legally used to define a specific type of company
@NIH_LLAMAS @stux THIS is why I think they are more malicious then it seems
@yperiwn @stux yeah? Don't honor bad people?
@codewiz I think that's kind of the goal don't you think?
@Aaronvegh I don't know, retro games machine, try run linux on it and have it run as a server/ smart TV ( or if you're crazier run full librebooted linux on it and live the life of full software freedom like stallman), or just have it sit there and look pretty is already nice.
@craigmaloney when I explained the premise of House of Leaves to a Hongkonger, instead of being scared, he said that's a dream, space that is larger inside. #hongkongishell

@OpenComputeDesign I hate human creations. They are so full of imperfections. And there's nothing I could do. Cause I'm also human and can't fix the imperfections any way, or sometimes adds more imperfections.

@OpenComputeDesign Everybody likes change, as long their are the bringer of change

But is it the point to always get better, to have better features that better fill more needs? at least in the context libre software?
