Sheril KirshenbaumIn recent years, we became too comfortable letting #Twitter define journalism & media. Algorithms often dictated the narratives we collectively paid attention to.
Absurd trends were covered by news outlets & ballooned into major stories while we missed so much real substance. And the quick takes of uninformed politicians & bad actors were forced upon anyone participating in the network.
It was bad for democracy. The #Mastodon model makes me hopeful we can do better. #twittermigration
Like I always say with content moderation, every social media site owner who is “pro free speech” meets their line eventually.

stux⚡️It's been a real busy day and I think most of you on mstdn.social has noticed we are almost an hour behind on the timelines.. 
Past night around 11K new people joined mstdn.social via invite links and this was a little too much to handle 
So instead of running in circles, I have setup another public #Mastodon instance with the same rules as on mstdn.
To lighten the load on mstdn, perhaps some would care to migrate to the new instance?
I think @[email protected] ruffled some feathers with the Head Twit. 😂 Way to go, Kathy!
