Someday, I want to give an inspirational talk on this topic. The “someone has already built this” or “this already exists” arguments are sickening to me.

It’s totally fine to give your take on a problem, even if another solution already exists. If the existing solutions don’t cut it for you, chances are that others feel the same way.
