When you were a little kid, did your parents act like Santa was real?
People think my family is nuts for not having Santa.
As a gift for my younger sibling's birthday, I'm putting together a small fabric goods repair kit (I often patch and fix stuff for them, and they've expressed an interest in learning for themselves). Off the top of my head, I've picked out these items:
- A speedweve-type darning loom, plus darning needle and some floss
- Sewing needles and thread
- Thread scissors
- Threading tools
- Some small pieces from my patch pile
Does anyone else have any items they recommend?
I've added a new strategy to my color-mapping tool!
In some cases, the old strategy performs better, but in others it performs quite badly. (In this case, it's a huge improvement! Old left, new right.)

The woman who intentionally conspired to have a false search warrant based on fake evidence written up for Breonna Taylor, leading to her state-sanctioned murder, has pled guilty. She'll spend no more than five years in prison for essentially conspiring to murder an innocent Black woman.
It's more than most of these fuckers get, but Jesus Christ, you get that much for having 20g of weed in Florida.
New avatar!

People say a lot about the internet to be safer for kids, but like...
Back in my day, a weird guy sent you a video game that was essentially ultradetailed animated snuff porn. Now a weird guy tries to recruit you to fascism.
Don't really think that's any better.
