@rishikesh @briankrebs i am rather sure i can speak for everyone that is in this register and you have to be in there really quick. Like being on any half official position in a sports club, everyone with the tinyest business or anything else that requires a legal person.
And as some others have already pointed out in case of niet of the tax evaders the entry in there is their lawyer. So for rich people there are ways around this registry.
@johnaldis sorry don't know that one.
On the Android it's pressing on the lower half of the picture. I think there are alternative apps though
@tb @briankrebs The GDPR protects private data of citisens. That means there will be cases where it protects the private data of criminals.
Usually not towards the police and other law enforcement.
They still have access - also to the company registers.
@ordnung Danke fuer eure arbeit.
We'll set up our own instance and take some load off you.
We very much would like to have some help there, especially in blogposts etc.
cc @milliways
Attention, chaos.social users, big announcement:
We're changing some of our instance rules, closing registrations permanently, and more.
https://blog.chaos.social/2022/11/29/changes
tl;dr:
• registrations stay closed (no more invites)
• no more automated accounts
• help offered for people starting new instances
• (some) CWs and image descriptions mandatory on the local timeline
• and more, please take the time to read the full post at https://blog.chaos.social/2022/11/29/changes
(rule changes come into effect two weeks from now)
@tb @briankrebs Yes. Its good.
European here that lives under this law. Its awesome.
@briankrebs News here. Your name is Private data after the european GDPR.
I can understand that you don't like it. But please understand:
Its our EU and we can make laws as it pleases us.
The european privacy law has serious advantages over the american approach and we actually like it.
Please respect other countries laws if they feel this way. This might also help some few tax evaders.
But it massively helps tons of private people to protect their identities online and offline.
Thanks for nothing for not thinking in different law spheres.
Board member of a hackerspace in the Netherlands here.
It is REALLY GOOD that this is finally closed. The UBO - that's our register - data is a constant source of fraud, spam and identity theft.
As someone who is in this register and runs a poor hackerspace in Rotterdam: The way how this register is done is seriously shit and good its closed.
In tax evasion cases the data in there is a lawyer only anyway. so useless.
Hey friends! https://ottawa.place is now open for signups 🎉🇨🇦❤️
@andrew and I built it as a hosted-in-Canada, capital-region-focused (but open to all Canadians) instance.
