The @joss editorial team was well represented at #SciPy2023! 🙌
If you’re going to be at #SciPy2023 or #PyHEPdev2023 and would like a pyhf sticker come find me to chat!

Seeing #SciPyConf be given as an example of a valuable method of engaging with the larger scientific research community today in Peter Elmer's P5 talk made me feel proud to be part of the conference organizing team and hopeful for the future of HEP. :) Just a few years ago SciPy wasn't well known in HEP, and today it was held up to thousands of senior physicists as valuable for the field. Doubly proud to have IRIS-HEP & Scikit-HEP be held up in the talk as well! :)

One of my absolute favorite things is catching up with colleagues and dear friends who I don’t see on a regular basis. So it was fantastic to grab drinks with both Giordon and MLB this week!
I'm happy to share that I've joined the @joss editorial team as a topical editor for physics, and data science and machine learning! I'm looking forward to working with the wonderful members of the team as well as lots of great reviewers! https://joss.theoj.org/about#topic_editors

I’m honored to have received in the mail yesterday a copy of Nathan Simpson’s beautiful and truly fantastic Ph.D. dissertation! It gave me a huge smile and is going to take its rightful place of honor on my physics bookshelf. Thank you and so many congratulations, Dr. Simpson!

You can read it too as a beautifully rendered website! phinate.github.io/thesis/

Today I learned from Lauren that there are some remarkably good fish candies from Sweden (beyond the “Swedish Fish” ones) and that Elderflower is a delightful flavor. 10/10

Sometimes your Docker image isn't bloated, but #HEP just has some pretty big binaries in our simulation stack.

Spent Monday afternoon reflecting, writing, and selecting my yearly theme. 2023 will be the year of Intentionality. It will be a challenge, and require exercising this word “no” my friends tell me exists, but I’m looking forward to the associated growth.
