Something is very broken in the #Berkeley Building and Safety department. 1729 Eighth Street burned (for the second time) over four years ago. A permit has seemingly been long submitted to demolish (and rebuild) the structure, but not yet issued. @TerryTaplin @berkeleyside
Boomers: I'm going to retire to Florida at 65, maybe earlier.
X: if I take on a side gig as an Uber driver, I can probably retire at 75.
Millenials: I don't think retirement is going to be a thing when I get old.
Z: I don't think Florida is going to be habitable in 10 years.
That predator was the other predator's nominee for AG! Oh, and 100% predictable. Thanks, dumbfuck voters.
Guess all the tech bros are fascist adjacent wannabes.
@tilde Having just read the Tchaikovsky trilogy, I think all of his work is probably a blend of science fiction and fantasy.
Further to my post about the stupid hand wringing abt the Hunter Biden pardon, @emptywheel says it more eloquently than I. https://www.emptywheel.net/2024/12/02/america-just-failed-the-test-of-responding-to-trumps-politicized-prosecutions/
America Just Failed the Test of Responding to Trump's Politicized Prosecutions - emptywheel

Whatever else you think about the Hunter Biden case and the way Joe Biden pardoned him, it is crystal clear proof that the thing defenders of democracy swear they'll do in a second Trump term -- rise to the defense of those targeted for political prosecution -- they already failed to do.

Enough with the hand wringing over the Biden pardon of Biden. 1) The prosecution was a shitstorm, and never would have gone forward if the defendant were anyone else; 2) we KNOW there will be a pardon palluza, of many dangerous criminals, in about 2 months, which will result in a tiny mention in the papers of record. This reeks of pre-bothsiderism.
Waiting for the pundits to say that, seeing their overwhelming loss in the CA senate race, Republicans should get out and really understand the needs of D voters.
@mattblaze I went to Drawbridge many years ago. I recall being unimpressed with my photos, but maybe the passage of time will improve my view.
