So does mastodon support migrating to another instance and keeping all your followers/followees? Because that’s an absolute killer feature of a federated system. If they don’t support that then how isn’t it another walled garden?

Found some Gnome tweaks to make me feel at home on the desktop. Just need to hook up a Mac keyboard as the PC one is driving me up the wall.

Got Tensorflow GPU installed and it blows away the CPU performance on this machine. Getting 13k examples per sec versus 400 on the CPU when running cifar10_train.py

Spent a considerable amount of time setting up a hackintosh to use a 1080ti for machine learning. Only to discover Tensorflow GPU on the Mac is no longer supported 🤦‍♂️Looks like I’ll be installing Ubuntu for the first time in a decade.

Giving mastodon and micro.blog a try this week. So far mastodon.social + twitter bridge + tootdon has been a frictionless experience to get up and running. Micro.blog seems like I’ll have to *do* stuff to get the best out of it 🤷‍♂️
