Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS in the Arizona evening sky, again! This time diving into the Grand Canyon! I can't believe my luck. I planned this trip several months ago before the comet was even on my radar. Now I find myself comet chasing!
[10/27 update: Now that I'm home I've updated the photo with a properly edited version.]

My tripod was buried so I did shoe tripod jutsu (take off shoe, wedge camera into shoe to get a angle)
We saw this thing...

(real non mushy jpeg edit when we get home I guess)
We saw the awawa [from seattle] (it was not this bright in person) #aurora #timelapse

2. The screws holding the sensor/stabilization assembly in place are tensioned with springs, which did kinda all release at once when I undid the last screw

Worse: They stick to the stabilization magnets and want to become misaligned on the way back in

Still, not too bad

1. There's these two tiny wires which you would have to desolder from a ribbon cable in order to fully remove the lens and sensor assembly, and still have to bend around slightly scary style even to just remove the stabilization/sensor assembly... Everything else is a nice connector, why......

I've been procrastinating on doing this for like a year out of fear of breaking the thing, even tho the Dust Problem had gotten pretty bad and was definitely visible in my recent timelapse projects...

It ended up being not too scary, with two exceptions which weren't that bad

I finally opened my GRIIIx to do sensor cleaning... #camera
