Most of this bag is full of these tumbleweed looking clusters that seem to start as scraps of twine, then become a sort of katamari, picking up dry grass, twigs, seaweed and lots of sand. I don't remember seeing these as a kid but the beach is littered with them now.

Easily managed to fill a bag of rubbish from the patch of sand around us. Lots of plastic ropes and twine, scraps of cloth a few bits of plastic bottles and a dog poop bag that had just been abandoned on the beach.
