Linux and other hacky stuff: HPC, scheduling, data science, quantification/observability. Also, consciousness and neuroscience and progress-oriented politics.
@david @neil No, that's not how all LLMs work. The LLM itself is just a stochastic parrot. One may augment an LLM with a harness which adds other (non-LLM) behavior, such as obtaining and using real citations. The problem arises mainly from people using a bare LLM to generate answers (especially in single-shot form).
@cy @Linux X had/has a lot of things that seem weird today. stipple fills, etc. IMO a lot of what people complain about is the way Xlib was very boilerplate-y. Lots of people grumble about security, WM interfaces, support for GL, etc. All pretty narrow, and I think there's been a lot of baby thrown out with bathwater in the main reason I love X: remoting. Yes, you can scrape the screen, but it's not even the same category. Yes, how many people know about X and tunneling over ssh?
@politico @politics-politico my peeve is when people ask to ask a question; triggered!
@JSAMcFarlane Sorry, I observe 22/7 - none of that commie metric stuff.

#Hegseth calling Anthropic a supply chain risk is a lie, and libelous.

No, there's no qualified immunity for explicit, outright, damaging lies. It's not a matter of opinion. It's not an interpretation.

"AI Factory" is just a stupid name. These things already had a name: "cluster". That name is better because it actually describes what it is. "AI cluster" is a good name. "Hyperscale cluster" is a good name.
@BBCNews @top-stories-BBCNews Golly, isn't the word for this "hegemony"?
The desire for power is disqualifying.
When does the impeachment begin? #Trump #Iran #America #humanity

@rbreich Not really sure what sort of "pollution" you're imagining from datacenters. Noise? Assuming CO2-dirty energy use?

Nothing about a DC necessarily involves chemical emission, or even water consumption. Manufacturing footprint?
