In case you’re wondering why everyone is so angry at Manchester City Council
This is Jan Oldenburg. Maybe Manchester City Council have forgotten Jan and what he did for Manchester but we haven’t.
Every second they waste in that hearing trying to shut down the Night & Day Cafe is an insult to Jan’s work.
There should be a statue of him at the entrance to Oldham Street.

Manchester City Council have put music in the dock today. Let’s hope some common sense prevails and this ludicrous attempt to fundamentally alter the nature of Manchester nightlife fails.

Court battle over noise complaint will decide future of famous music club, which has hosted Johnny Marr, the Charlatans, Arctic Monkeys and Ed Sheeran

A stark decision for Manchester City Council this week.
It can hand the city to big money & developers by deciding to pursue the ridiculous noise abatement notice against Night & Day knowing it will close the venue.
Or they can back the music community, stand by the musical heritage, stand up for the people of Manchester, and throw the notice in the bin where it belongs.
