I have moved to my own Mastodon instance and so far only my followers who are also on mastodon·social have been transferred automatically. An update of other instances will probably take some time, but if you want to shorten the process: https://social.marcus.io/@marcus

In the advent of the #EAA, there are some explainers going around which have wrong info (and I don't blame the authors, we are all not lawyers and EU legislation is a beast):

- No, there is no transitional period for your websites until 2027
- No, the EAA (née Directive 2019/882) is not based on the Web Accessibility Directive (née Directive 2016/2102). The first is about a common EU market, the second one about the public sector of the EU member states.

@AmeliaBR @stephaniewalter I understand the date of entry of a law that is based on an EU Directive must take its deadlines from said directive, and member states can create own laws, but must not "underdeliver"/fall short of the aims and deadlines of the directive. Therefore minimum deadlines are defined there, differing deadlines can be defined in the national legislation, but they can't push them into the future (e.g. 2027) in relation to the ones in the directive
I'm also not a lawyer, of course. But I dove into the topic years ago maybe with masochistic motivation, but mainly to understand and teach in my course (which will soon be available in English, shameless plug)

@stephaniewalter This is interesting. I dove into the EAA years ago and only found the 2027 date in context of transpositons (the process of EU members to build according laws. The EAA is an EU directive). Search for "2027" in the directive's text for yourself: https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/HTML/?uri=CELEX:32019L0882
