I just found out about my very first citation... Spruit (1993). It is cited within the GitHub file https://github.com/spell-music/amsterdam/blob/ab491022c7826c74eab557ecd11794268f5a5ae0/20-fm/Network.hs and refers to my Music Generation project source code in Prolog which I wrote in 1992 (and still have!). Given an input length in seconds, it generates a polyphonic soundscape score for CSound๐ถ.
Apparently, my project report was cited by JP Gather as: "Variable FM Instument and network score generator design". In other words, this is my first cited algorithm!
Good times.
Today I participated in the ICIC 2026 workshop on How can we use AI to integrate community health and social care responsibly and ethically?

As an early Christmas present, the UMCNL workgroup Data in the Region (led by UMCG) has been awarded a 1.4M EUR Open Science Infrastructure grant on Improving availability, access, and usage of socio-medical data through unified governance - for researchers, health professionals, policymakers, and citizens.
#tdslab leads WP3 on designing the unified governance framework for socio-medical data sharing across regional hubs and data competence centers (DCCs).
#tdslab's Ian Shen defended his dissertation "Healthcare Information System Engineering: AI Technologies and Open Source Approaches" very successfully! Ian focused on the development of Healthcare Information Systems (HIS) using Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques that address a number of issues in healthcare. Furthermore, Ian conducted investigations on how to improve HIS engineering with Open Source methodology. #LeidenUniversity
Well done, Ian๐๐
Meet our Project Partner: "The #tdslab operates from Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) [... which] brings invaluable knowledge and experience in translating data science innovations into digital health solutions to the INSAFEDARE project. This includes crucial contributions to data integration, synthetic data generation and validation, and the development and validation of digital health tools."

Tallinn, Estonia, 8-9 October - The UNCAN-Connect project officially launched! Funded by the Horizon Europe Research and Innovation programme, the โฌ30 million project brings together 53 partner organizations from 19 countries to co-develop UNCAN.eu, a decentralized collaborative platform enabling secure, ethical, and interoperable access to cancer data. We target six cancer types - paediatric, lymphoid, pancreatic, ovarian, lung, and prostate cancer.
One used 3D cell models to study colorectal cancer, while the other used machine learning for more efficient blood donation. For these achievements, Marieke Vinkenoog and Simon Christian Hansmann were awarded the Krijn Rietveld Memorial Innovation Award on Tuesday 2 September.
