Queer, progressive, polyamorous. Interested in making the world a better place through technology and responsibility.

I do some blacksmithing and I paint miniatures for fun.

In many object oriented programming languages, the lambda symbol `=>` can be read as "such that" for best verbal readability.
In the same way, the keyword `as` should be read as "trust me bro."

I'm reminded of how IBM used to try to quantify coding for the purposes of promotion and bonuses:

It started with KLOC, which incentivized developers to write long, unwieldy code to juice up their LOC count.

So then it became Code Density, which incentivized developers to write a single line of inscrutably dense but functional code.

Finally they just gave up!

Yeah, so line count is not a measure of quality by any means whatsoever!

Every day I am more convinced that Elon Musk is the result of some kind of monkey's paw wish. He thought money would make him cool, but in getting the money he became the single most cringe person in the world.
Zac Oyama has an impossible command of comedic timing. He is literally a treasure.

Every member of Congress should be required to hold a face to face town hall with their district every quarter.

GOP Congressional leadership is suggesting to members to stop holding town halls or to vet the participants to avoid viral videos of angry voters as their grossly unpopular policies move forward.

Reading @pluralistic 's article "With great power came no responsibility":

"And that's how we get to the enshittified Google of today, where every query serves back a blob of AI slop, over five paid results tagged with the word AD in 8-point, 10% grey on white type, which is, in turn, over ten spammy links from SEO shovelware sites filled with more AI slop."

I've switched to #Qwant and it's a breath of fresh air. No more AI slop for me, and it makes such a difference! #SearchEngine

5 paragraphs into this @pluralistic's piece and it's already horrifying

"Before Shiftkey offers a nurse a shift, it purchases that worker's credit history [...]

The more desperate the nurse's financial straits are, the lower the wage on offer. Because the more desperate you are, the less you'll accept to come and do the gruntwork of caring for the sick, the elderly, and the dying."

We can't change the fascists minds - and it's a waste of time and energy to try. Instead, we should look at who is complying.

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/over-100-us-intelligence-staff-fired-over-sexually-explicit-chats-2025-02-26/

Reuters here is rolling over to the admin's claims with no attempt to push back on the narrative, despite the screenshots of the chats in question being released on Twitter.

One of the offending "lurid sex chats" was simply defining what a metamour is. Others were discussions about gender experiences by trans individuals (which of course *must* be sexual to these freaks.)

This is a purge of queer people from the intelligence community - but what's more it's a blueprint of how they will purge us from other jobs.
