That wouldn't surprise me, given the technology at the time and the fact that it wasn't a dedicated hub/rim system. The system was basically tensioned Kevlar strands that replaced normal spokes, with a shell for protection.
@Basmitharts When I asked local Volvo repair shop techs about the modern wagons they said avoid the 2018-2021 models like the plague, mostly due to constant software issues. They said all the models after that were wonderful to work on.

Kinda reminds me of the old Tioga Tension Disc. Been forever since I've seen one of those.

@MLE_online I've seen cars built using wood (Costin and Morgan come to mind) but never one quite like that.
