Londoner. Love my family, books (paper, digital and audio), tea, theatre, wide variety of music, Monty Python, country walks, good dogs, butterflies and bees. Autumn chicken.
Izzy had a rough week after picking up a nasty bug. She spent a day at our wonderful local vets on a drip but is recovering well. Her love of biscuits does not appear to have been affected …
Our son arranged for us to visit the Viking Jupiter at Greenwich yesterday. The ship and staff were amazing. Going on onboard made me appreciate for the first time why people enjoy cruises.
Mudchute Park and Farm is also a great place to take your little ones during the school holidays
Lovely walk today with my local #U3A. Millwall Inner Dock looked amazing in the sunshine.
We were lucky enough to get tickets for a recording of ‘Meet David Sedaris’ by BBC Radio at the Tabernacle in London today. Some of the family stories he shared were very sad, but he was typically witty and wise and I cried with laughter more than I have for a long time. It’s planned for broadcast in February/March and well worth your time if you enjoy his work. #radio4 #davidsedaris
Our cocker spaniel enjoying a moment in the December sun today.
Our youngest son took the photo.
We’re back to blue skies, sun and milder weather. The snow has melted and I’m reminded of country walks back in the spring, eight long months ago...
One of my Christmas rituals is to listen to the audio version of 'Seasons Greetings' by Alan Ayckbourn. There's a video (originally tv) version on YouTube but the quality is not great.
It's set in a suburban house at Christmas and relates the events that unfold in a dysfunctional British family when a guest joins them for their habitual celebrations.
It's from 1980 and you may enjoy it if you're a baby boomer who remembers life in the 1970s.
It's dark, but never fails to make me laugh.
