@[email protected] it probably would be weird to have colleagues' faces on cards in the game. I was thinking more about when management is deciding who will be on which team in the workplace outside of the game. I've asked them to have headshots of everyone when they do that to increase empathy for those being moved around.

@[email protected] that would be a great way to help people not in management understand the decisions management sometimes makes. It might also help management better understand the impact their decisions might have on people they manage. One thing I’ve encouraged is to use photos of team members when assigning people to teams. We’ll see how that goes.

@dansup my only concern (atm) is if two people from different servers have the same account name in the same thread. A compromise could be a hint that the account is remote and let people easily discover the full name. Or if different accounts have the same name on different servers *and* are in the same post, then expand to make it obvious.

It may depend, as well, on what the use cases are where someone needs to know the full domain. Is it easy to do?

@atomicpoet I’ve been slow writing a blog post on it, so some nuance may need to be saved for later, but I’ve enjoyed thinking of the fediverse as a collection of 17th/18th century coffee shops. It would be expected for there to be a proprietor with rules and for people to take some time to find the right coffee shop for what they are interested in. Like going to Lloyd’s for maritime insurance.

@nova I recently set up an instance in AWS using Kubernetes to manage the services (there’s a nice helm chart in the mastodon repo) with a Postgres RDS in multi-az mode and S3 for uploaded assets. Seems to work well so far, but I’m also the only person on the instance - haven’t advertised it yet - still shaking things down a bit to make sure it’s all working well. Not the cheapest solution.
