@lymenzies @anubis and to answer the original question, Scaleway has both ARM and RISC-V machines, the ARM are bigger (up to 32 cores VM IIRC), and the RISC-V are still fairly small (4 cores, 16GB of RAM) but more options should come very soon
@lymenzies @anubis @lymenzies @anubis this used to be true, up to early last year. With the availability of the HiFive P550, Spacemit K3 based boards and other options, it’s starting to get usable for more than just a toy project. Case in point, we are building Adoptium (OpenJDK), Go, PyTorch, Llama.cpp, Python, and many other projects on RISC-V and it’s not that far off.

Trump and Netanyahu launch their war and Canada, the Gulf States and Europe all sign up for it.

We are ruled by a bunch of pathetic criminals. Very single one of them.

In 2025, Meta paid an effective federal tax rate of 3.5% — its lowest on record. Meanwhile, Meta is pumping $65 million into elections this year to boost AI friendly candidates. Trickle-down economics isn't just a hoax, it's corrosive to democracy. Big Money is the root of our dysfunction.

Wow, I had been running out of patience with Yegge’s uncritical #GenAI boosterism, but this is epic: “The AI Vampire.”

As usual with Yegge, it could have been edited down to half its size, but go read it anyhow. I’m going to adopt that “AI Vampire” phrase and start using it, a lot.

The AI Vampire

This was an unusually hard post to write, because it flies in the face of everything else going on.

Let's be clear. Republicans are passing the deceptively named SAVE Act not because they can point to any form of systemic voter or Election fraud, but because it will disenfranchise tens of millions of women and minorities.

Since 1992, women have voted blue by 4 to 13 points. So rather than changing their policies to earn women's votes, they're changing the rules to prevent women's votes.

That's not democracy. That's dictatorship. That's MAGA.
